A weekend up the coast

Last weekend, a group of us spent the weekend at Avoca, a lovely beach spot about an hour out of Sydney. We stayed at a beautiful house right on Avoca Beach - we only needed to open up the back doors and we were at the beach.

We arrived on a rainy Friday night and decided to head to the local Chinese restaurant for a mixture of spring rolls, curry puffs, sizzling beef and lamb, peanut chicken, and of course, fried ice cream.

Saturday morning was spent in the water for a pre-breakfast surf, before we wandered to a local cafe for brunch (and when I say wandered, I mean that we literally walked 10 metres from where we were staying to the cafe next door - we could not have asked for a better location).

After filling up on a smoothie and some poached eggs with sourdough and avocado, we had a chilled day lounging around the house, before going for another surf and a late afternoon walk along the beach. That night we spent a quiet night in, firing up the BBQ and hanging out with some board games and TV.

The next morning began with another pre-breakfast surf (it would be impossible for me to stay that close to the beach and not take advantage of it). We enjoyed a lovely bacon, egg, hash brown and mushroom fry-up, before playing a few rounds of Articulate.

The sun decided to peak out for about an hour, so we headed out for another beach walk, before grabbing some fish and chips for lunch which we enjoyed back at the house as the rain pelted down again.

Sadly the weekend had to come to an end and we drove back to Sydney that evening, however it was a lovely two-day getaway to the beach, even if the rain didn't hold back for most of the weekend!
