Geronimo is located in the centre of town on Charles St (the foodie hub of Launceston) and is known for their cocktails, share plates and relaxed atmosphere.
We arrived at 7pm and started off with some drinks - I couldn't go past the Aperol Spritz which was a lovely, refreshing cocktail for a springtime evening.
We then decided to go with the share plate option, and chose a range of dishes to share. The dishes came out in order of size, starting off with the polenta fries with chorizo mayonnaise, the pork sliders with cabbage, apple and pickled fennel slaw, and the scallops with celeraic and crispy pancetta.
Next up was the venison ragu with gnocchi, purple carrots and beetroot, and the braised Cape Grim brisket with spinach puree, pearl onions and horseradish creme friache.
We were getting pretty full by this stage, however after a bit of red wine and some time to rest our stomachs, out came the funghi pizza with swiss brown, oyster and shitaki mushrooms with basil pesto, and the gratin dauphinois potatoes with cream, gruyere, thyme and garlic.
Everything was incredibly delicious and filling (so much so that we didn't even have room for dessert). I would definitely recommend Geronimo to anyone looking for a fun, relaxed restaurant with a range of fresh, beautifully-cooked menu items to share.
